Ted Evans was one of the most successful British Wakefield designers. With the Vansteed he placed 2:nd at the World Champs 1950 in Jämijärvi, Finland. An unusual feature of this design was that it used a feathering propeller, where the blades oriented themselves parallell to the air stream when not driving.
The name Vansteed is an anagram for "Ted Evans".
