The beautiful gullwinged Hast was designed in 1934 by Harald Storbeck. The original version had included some material of foreign origin, which was not allowed according to the German competition rules, so in 1935 he modified the design to be built entirely of pine and plywood. With the Hast, Storbeck was successful in the 1935 Rhön competitions, gaining third place. Later the model made thermal flights of over 20 minutes duration in the vicinity of Berlin.
The design was available as a plan with building instruction from the Otto Maier company. It is still popular i Germany, usually modified for RC-flying.
